I think we are getting close
Remember me?
Peace comes 40 years late!!
I know I hide some C-Rats somewhere
You sure this is the runway? Where's the bus?
Which one, plastic or paper?
I can't get down on both knees!
Are you sure this is a campsite?
I know this was the campsite of the 506th
That was a lot of work looking for that runway!
I agree. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I have one more mission!!
Once again we had a very successful day. This was the day Tony was wounded 40 years ago and we were at Camp Evens within 2 hours of being exactly 40 years. It was a very emotional day for everyone.
In the first picture we are deciding which way to go to find Camp Evens.
In the second picture we found a man in the forest herding his cattle that gave us better directions to find the airport. We believe that he was a former VC but today we were able to shake hands and give hugs. Very powerful!!
In the third picture we all enjoyed the peace.
In the fourth picture Tony is gathering some dirt from the runway to take home with him.
In the fifth picture we are all standing on the runway celebrating the success of finding it.
In the sixth picture Tony is gather more souvenir's.
In the seventh picture Tony is kneeling down by a road marker that went by the South end of the runway.
In the 8th picture is the location of the 1st Cav's position on the south side of the runway.
In the 9th picture was the location of the 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne.
In the 10th picture is Jim taking a rest after searching for the runway.
In the 11th picture Phil is really taking a rest before we return to Hue. "Hue to go".
In the final picture Tony had just came back from taking a walk by himself and he said "It's over and I have one more mission". The one more mission is to carry some earth from Camp Evens to Michigan and put on the grave of his RTO that was killed when Tony was wounded in the Ashau Valley.
On the morning of 27th we leave for Da Nang and we will find our last location we are looking for. That is Camp Eagle where Tony had surgery for his wounds.
